My Kind of Town, (Chicago is).
Soon I won’t be able to say the words, “I’ve never been to Chicago.” Yeah, we’re on the road to Da Chi, aka Chi-Town, The 312, The Chill, The Big Onion. (Okay, I did the Wikipedia cheat.) Kristen, our CMJ connection, sent her Chicago connection my demo – How sweet is that?!! I’m not sure what’s going to come of it, but we’re “going where the music takes us,” (our new motto). And it would be stating the obvious to say Chicago is a city where music happens.
Easy examples are recent artists like, The Sea and Cake and Sufjan Stevens, (“Come on, feel the Illinoise”) plus more established artists like Liz Phair and historic greats like Koko Taylor and that whole string of incredible Blues singers. I’m going to give myself a History of the Blues homework assignment while in town.
Seana and I are are planning to hit up the locals to find the best underground clubs and the hottest up-and-comers. (Stay tuned, stay tuned.) Reuben from Quintus (check out our video on them) hooked us up a band called NYCO. Can’t wait to meet them. I’m prepared to be spontaneous…ready for whatever magic may happen in The Second City, Paris on the Prarie, That Toddling Town…
See you in Chicago!

Why All of my Ex-Boyfriends Are Musicians…Emphasis on EX
Stereotypes are not necessarily a good thing, but there is a definite reason that they exist. Musicians, for instance, have a reputation for not being the best boyfriends. The problem is: I happen to only date musicians.
Every single time that I break up with a musician boyfriend I vow to NEVER date another musician…but I always go back. My friends don’t get it. I don’t really get it.
So I present to you…THE PROS AND CONS OF DATING A MUSICIAN
Pro: They are musicians-I am terribly attracted to talent and passion.
Con: They are musicians. There’s a constant crowd, many many other girls all vying for their attention.
Pro: They are not generally “clingy”- which is good for me because I don’t do “clingy”
Con: They tour; and months away from my boyfriend does not a happy Seana make
Pro: They know music, I know music- we have a lot to talk about.
Con: The easy music talk allows us to avoid more serious topics.
Pro: There is something incredibly sexy about a man and a guitar (I have always had a thing for guitar players)
Con: Personal hygiene is often a challenge (for them, not me)
Pro: Spontaneity. No real routine. I can’t take 9-5’ers.
Con: You run the risk of playing second fiddle to the music.
Cons may outweigh the pros and I know (yes, I know) musicians may make bad beaux. But I don’t think there’s any way around it, I’m going to keep going there.
Hopelessly romantically yours,
Seana
