Can you feel it? The Music Marathon is upon us. I am beyond stoked. Beyond.

In case you don’t know, CMJ (College Music Journal) hosts a music (and film) marathon that has been showcasing thousands of up-and-coming bands for the last 25 years. This is one of the best ways for a rad indie band to get signed to a record label. There are other ways, I’m sure, but CMJ is a pretty good route.
This year’s festival starts today, and all of the shows are near one another, downtown, aka Lower Manhattan, aka what people from out of town like to call “The Village” only no one really says that anymore. Seana and I got passes through Trevor, and I can’t call him my New Boyfriend anymore since six months pretty much qualifies him as BOYFRIEND. Would you not say? And while the jury is out on many things about Trevor, his generosity on the CMJ Front has been duly noted. Plus, he’s cute. So we’re hitting up some amazing gigs like Dan Deacon, the 1990s and Tiny Masters of Today.
Trevor is playing too, and it’s a big deal for him, we both hope that he gets signed. He said some A and R types are going to be there – I plan to dress to impress. Seana was quick to point out that my favorite black boots are a little dated, she said “Definitely last season.” So we’re off to Fluevog and the shoe store mecca of Eighth Street. Hopefully I don’t come out with pink feather-boots…knowing Seana, it could happen.
See you around the blogosphere,
; ) Kim
